Farmers’ and Flea Market This Saturday
The Lemhi County Farmers’ Market is sporting a full schedule for this weekend. First, it is Flea Market Day. Bring your garage sale items to the market and set up in a 12 x 12 space.
The Salmon Arts Council is host to “Art in the Market” this weekend for the last time this season. Live music will be on board provided by “The-Forget-Me-Notes” who will conduct sing-a-longs with the kids starting at 10 am. There is nothing like live entertainment as you stroll through the market. Market vendor Baker’s Honey will be making peanut butter play dough at 11 am.
Now is the time to drag out that box of jars, put on your apron and get ready to put up a winter’s worth of delicious pickles, dilly beans, tomato sauce, salsa, and anything else your heart desires! Summer harvest is here folks and judging by the market displays, there is no shortage of beautiful, fresh picked and tasty vegetables to fill your bellies this week at the Farmers’ Market. Swift River Farm will have mountains of green, yellow and purple beans, not to mention a bounty of cucumbers, summer squash, heirloom tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, and maybe…just maybe, the season’s first taste of watermelon. What better way to spend a Saturday morning than getting to know your local farmers and try a little taste of summer while it lasts. And Baker’s Honey will have whipped honey available, which is a real treat.
Vendors are also bringing in fresh baked breads, tamales and always something for the sweet tooth. And don’t forget to try a custom pizza baked with a combination of wood and charcoal from Poker Pizza.
Services are also provided like tool and knife sharpening from Watch Your Fingers Sharpening, photography from PhotographyByJesse.com and a free spinal screening from Salmon River Chiropractic.
Thanks to a generous donation from the Kiwanis and private donation, the Lemhi County Farmers’ Market is able to extend a helping hand to recipients of the food stamp program. For a limited time clients can receive an additional $10.00 of funds for shopping at the market. Purchases of farm fresh produce, breads, eggs, jams, jelly, and meat are all available at the market. Please stop by the market manager’s booth for more information on how you can stretch your food budget each week.
The Farmers’ Market is selling raffle tickets for the 2014 Lemhi County Farmers’ Market Gift Basket. All proceeds are earmarked for needed equipment. Please stop at the manager’s booth for tickets.
