Kid’s Art At The Market This Weekend
The great thing about shopping at the Lemhi County Farmers’ Market is everyone has the opportunity to try the many different varieties of vegetables grown right here in the Lemhi Valley. Even for those of us who keep our own gardens, it is always fun to try out our taste buds with something new. With a huge variety of garlic and shallots, you are bound to find a few to take home and try. Names like Georgian Fire, Music, Inchelium Red, Persian Star, and Romanian Red are just a few that will catch your attention. In addition, you can fill your bags with melons, leeks, sweet and hot peppers, eggplant, onions, tomatoes, and so much more. What better way to spend a Saturday morning than stocking up on delicious local food for the week?
Most everyone has a small garden in their yard, true. But there is always a plant that did not grow or you have a plant that went nuts and you are up to your eyeballs wondering how much your chickens will eat before they become bored. So bring your produce to the market. Still having difficulty moving your produce and you do not want to take it home? How about donating it to our food banks? Stop by the manager’s booth for more information.
The Salmon Arts Council is hosting their Kid’s Art at the Market this Saturday. This is their last in a series of three for artistic fun for all ages. Come and join the fun starting at 10 am.
The Lemhi County Farmers’ Market strives to meet the demands of our communities every Saturday at the Town Square Park, 9:00 am – 1:00 pm, rain or shine. Market manager, Julie Parker, reminds the community that the market participates in the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program as well as the Senior Farmers’ Market Nutritional Program. Look for the yellow “SNAP” signs for participating vendors. This weekend there will be a variety of demonstrations happening throughout the market so be sure to bring a chair and a small plastic container or two for samples.
You can change your world and make it a better place by visiting the Lemhi County Farmer’s Market every week and supporting our local farmers and artisans. Be sure to “like” us on Facebook and visit our website at lemhicountyfarmersmarket.org. If you would like more information on how you can participate in the Lemhi County Farmers’ Market, please contact market manager Julie Parker at 208.993.1198 or via email email@example.com.
See you at the market!
