And The Fun Goes On!
This year has flown by for the Lemhi County Farmers’ Market. Yet there is so much more FUN planned for the last month of the 2015 season. Here is just a peak at some of the fun you will find at the Farmers’ Market…..
Sept 5: Senior Class Pancake Breakfast. This event alone has been so exciting to watch as it grows. The students work so hard to get the word out as the proceeds go directly for class expenditures during the school year. The Farmers’ Market will also be hosting a Flea Market as well.
Sept 12: Salmon Marathon. This year the marathon will be ending at the pavilion in the Town Square Park. Sponsored by Whitewater Therapeutic Riding Association
Sept 19: There is always time for one more Flea Market
Sept 26: This is our last day for the market and what better way to end the season than to bring to the community the 4th Annual Apple Festival. Idaho Heritage Tree Project started the ball rolling for this festival and we intend to keep it rolling. Apple Pie competition were the winner takes all, apple pies for sale, bobbing for apples, kids games…….The fun goes on!
So be sure to make a note on your list of things to do and visit the Lemhi County Farmers’ Market. Take home your freshly picked vegetables, herbs, fruit, honey, and a host of canned and baked goods to be enjoyed the whole week. Visit with the artisans who create beautiful items for yourself and your home. Plus we have a vendor coming who repurposes beetle killed wood and fashions a beautiful product, of which we will keep it a secret. Come to the Lemhi County Farmers’ Market for a pleasant memory that will last a lifetime.
Most everyone has a small garden in their yard, true. But there is always a plant that did not grow or you have a plant that went nuts and you are up to your eyeballs wondering how much your chickens will eat before they become bored. So bring your produce to the market. Still having difficulty moving your produce and you do not want to take it home? How about donating it to our food banks? Stop by the manager’s booth for more information.
The Lemhi County Farmers’ Market strives to meet the demands of our communities every Saturday at the Town Square Park, 9:00 am – 1:00 pm, rain or shine. Market manager, Julie Parker, reminds the community that the market participates in the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program as well as the Senior Farmers’ Market Nutritional Program. Look for the yellow “SNAP” signs for participating vendors. This weekend there will be a variety of demonstrations happening throughout the market so be sure to bring a chair and a small plastic container or two for samples.
